Lois Driver

–

Atlanta, Georgia

Mrs. Edd Lois Driver, affectionately known to family and friends as "Doll," was born on October 23, 1931, in Henry County, McDonough, Georgia, to the late Edward Phillips and Tessie Phillips. Having lived a remarkable 94 years, she leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, wisdom, service, and family devotion that will continue to inspire generations to come.

Edd Lois dedicated her life to her family, faith, food, and community. She was more than a mother and grandmother; she was a teacher, mentor, and guiding light to countless individuals whose lives were enriched by her wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support. Her warm spirit and open heart made everyone feel welcomed and loved.
A woman deeply rooted in her heritage; Edd Lois proudly shared her gifts through music as a member of the Atlanta City Voices Choir. Through numerous performances for Atlanta city mayors and community events, the choir preserved and celebrated the religious folk songs once sung by enslaved African Americans. Through her voice, she helped keep history alive and passed the richness of her culture and heritage on to future generations.

Doll had a passion for traveling, visiting family, and experiencing the world around her, but perhaps her greatest joy was found in the kitchen. Cooking was her love language, and she delighted in preparing meals that brought family, friends, neighborhoods, and communities together. She proudly shared the true meaning of Soul Food, nourishing not only the body and soul, but also the spirit. Her recipes, traditions, and family gatherings created memories that will be cherished forever.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Phillips and Tessie Phillips, and 6 of her beloved siblings: Minnie Phillips, Willie Jr Phillips, Mary Ruth Phillips, James Roger Phillips, David Phillips, and Alonzo Phillips.
