Emma Frances Mack Sheridan, known as Emma, born on February 11, 1948, in Atlanta, GA, was a beacon of love and warmth to all who had the privilege to know her. Her life was a testament to the adage, "Family is not an important thing, it's everything." Emma, a devoted matriarch, was known for her nurturing spirit, radiating a love that extended beyond her family to touch everyone she met. She made her transition on May 6, 2024, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of many.
Emma was a proud graduate of Washington High School and served her community with pride and dedication, working at the Biltmore Hotel before becoming a homemaker. She was a master of domestic arts, creating a home that was always welcoming and filled with love. Emma moved to Statham, Georgia, 25 years ago, where she continued to cultivate a home that was a refuge for family and friends alike. Her home was a testament to her spirit, a place where love, laughter, and memories were created and cherished. As Maya Angelou once said, "The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned." Emma's home was indeed that safe place for many.
Emma is survived by her children, Angel Mathis, Andre Mack, Melaine Hunter, Alisa Mack, Harold Jr., Cynthia Sheridan, and Regina Sheridan-Jackson. She was a beloved grandmother to Chanel, Christian, Terry, Michelle, Leonte, Jake Jr., Jerome, Jarvis, Joshua, Jasmine, and Joy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theotis Mack and Pruddie Johnson, her husband, Harold Senior, and her grandson, James. Each one of them was a precious jewel in the crown of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
In the words of Elizabeth Edwards, "She stood in the storm, and when the wind did not blow her way, she adjusted her sails." Emma was a woman of strength and resilience, and her life remains a testament to the power of love, family, and perseverance. She leaves behind a legacy of warmth, compassion, and unyielding love that will continue to inspire her family and all who knew her.
