Kirksley Sims Obituary (1956 - 2025)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Kirksley J. Sims, affectionately known as "County Cool" or "Kool," on April 15, 2025. Born on April 7, 1956, in Philadelphia, PA, Kirksley resided in Decatur, Georgia for the last 30 years of his life. A man of simple pleasures, Kirksley's life echoed the words of Robert Louis Stevenson, "There is no duty we so underrate as the duty of being happy." Kirksley's deep love for automobiles led him to a career as a car detailer for Toyota-Wilette, a job he performed with great precision, passion, and pride. Despite never marrying, Kirksley was a treasured member of his family and extended community. His jovial spirit, kind heart, and unwavering positivity left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to have known him. His love for life was infectious, and he was always the first to remind us of the beautiful words of Albert Einstein, "There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle." He is survived by his loving siblings, Ada L Sims, Vada U Sims and George H Sims, who will greatly miss their dear brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin C Sims Sr. and Marie J Sims brothers Calvin C Sims Jr, Gary L Sims, Ronald L Sims and sister, Marie F Sims. Kirksley's absence leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will continue to inspire and uplift those who knew him.
