Raleigh McKeever Sr

Raleigh McKeever was born in Atlanta, Georgia in 1931. He was preceded in death by his oldest brother and wife. Mr. McKeever departed this life peacefully in 2026.

Early in life - much like many young men of his era - he faced the difficult decision to leave school to help financially support his family. In doing so, he worked numerous jobs and eventually found work at a Government contractor; where he would remain, serve in a number of roles, and eventually retire from. Prior to this position, he also met his wife and later they began their family.

During his professional tenure, he chose to return to evening school to complete his high school education. According to his yearbook, he served as Class Treasurer, Mr. Personality, and Mr. Leadership. He also worked on the yearbook staff and served as one of the artists. All of this in addition to holding a full-time career and managing a home and family.

Following retirement, Mr. McKeever chose to continue his education by taking courses at a local community college. He also engaged in several entrepreneurial endeavors; including toy distribution/sales, lawn mower repair, lawn service, home repair, etc. Around that time, he became a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and became a faithful member of their Usher Board.

Mr. McKeever later started regularly attending art classes at a local senior center and produced several paintings. This was a full-circle moment in that he had a love of painting since he was young.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son, his three surviving brothers, their wives, cousins, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
