We celebrate the life of the courageous and resilient Rosalie Filmore, who was born on September 22nd, 1956, in Queens, New York, and was called to her heavenly home on December 11th, 2025. An embodiment of unwavering love and support, Rosalie spent her years spreading joy and kindness to everyone around her. Her time in Jamaica, New York, Richmond, Virginia, and finally, in Atlanta, Georgia, was marked by her contagious enthusiasm for life, her dedication to her family, and her strong faith in God.
Rosalie was a steadfast rock for her family and friends. In her professional life as an office worker in the Real-estate industry at Costar, she was known for her work ethic and dedication. But it was her personal life that truly defined her. Rosalie was never happier than when she was with her family, especially her daughter and granddaughters. She was a supportive sister, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother. The verse from Proverbs 31:25, "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future," encapsulates the spirit of Rosalie. Her strength was evident even in her final days, a testament to her enduring resilience.
Rosalie is survived by her daughter, Jeanine Fannell, her sisters, Susan Ellis, Darlene Rogers, Colette Thomas, Monica, Jetuan Filmore, and her granddaughters, Raehlyn Salim and Jaehryah Salim. She is also survived by her brothers-in-law, Born, James, and Tom. Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, James and Betty Filmore, her brothers, Charles, Ronald, Norman, Carlton, Gregory, and James, and her sister, Zabrina Filmore.
The celebration of Rosalie's life will take place on Saturday, December 27th, 2025 at 12:00pm EST at Mt. Zion Second Baptist Church, 137 Boulevard Northeast, Atlanta, Georgia, 30312. Please join us to honor and remember this remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her love and courage.
We encourage all who knew Rosalie to share their memories of her, and to upload photos to her memorial page. Each shared memory will serve as a comfort and a reminder of the loving, resilient woman that Rosalie was.
